Привет всем!

начну с самого начала. решил освоить debian, что делаю и на чем:
ноутбук asus x52n:

processor: Mobile AMD V140, 2300 MHz (11.5 x 200)
video: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200


в virtualbox ставлю дистрибутив debian-6.0.6-i386-netinst.
ставлю голую систему со стандартными утилитами. немного побаловался и решил поставить x server без каких либо оконных менеджеров:

# apt-get install x-window-system
далее выполняю statrx - отображение поменялось, ненадолго появился крестик, разрешение стало намного меньше чем было в консоли. запускаю для пробы игру pacman - выдает ошибку. по ctrl+alt+backspace ничего не происходит. при нажатии ctrl+alt+f1 заходит в консоль и там можно только ctrl+c нажать, чтобы появилось приветствие (user@note:~$). немного погуглив доставляю fglrx-driver. далее нужно сконфигурировать командой

# aticonfig --initial
выдает в ответ: aticonfig:no supported adapters detected
так же выполняю поиск утановленных драйверов:

$ aptitude search '~ixserver-xorg-video-'
- ничего не выдает.
а если

$ aptitude search '!~ixserver-xorg-video-'

то выдает список в ~20 строк
зато pacman теперь запускается, но видно, что тормозит. разрешение такое же, консоль оказывается вверху слева, а пакман запускается справа внизу и часть игры скрыта рамками окна.
вопрос - куда дальше копать? что делать? пишут что нужно создать файл xorg.conf но что в нем писать?

Эмм.. Просмотрел, что это виртуалка. Тогда незачем и сообщение вполне логичное - сквозь виртуалку драйвера карту не увидят. Виртуалка дает виртуальный видео-контроллер.

то есть переустановка драйверов ничего не даст? я все равно попробую, чтобы был опыт при установке в реальных условиях

да, ничего не помогло, видимо это особенность запуска дебиан на виртуальной машине

Отвлеченно от виртуалки: в stable драйвер radeon подобную карту нормально поддерживает.

смотря чего вы хотите добиться в итоге. для создания файла xorg.conf надо дать команду X -configure. В домашнем каталоге пользователя появится файл xorg.conf.new. Проверить его можно командой X -config xorg.conf.new. Дальше копируем его в каталог /etc/X11 ну и пр.

qupl, зато в тестинге так же посылает сообщением о неподдерживаемой карте. Драйвер на сайте скачать дают 12.6, в репах той же версии...
