VmWare Workstation-куда девается модуль после ребута системы?

установил сабж, при этом нормально стартует /etc/init.d/vmware, все нужные модули загружены, а после ребута системы куда-то пропадает модуль vmci:

% sudo modprobe vmci                                                                                                 :(
modprobe: FATAL: Module vmci not found.


и при попытке старта vmware естественно:

% sudo /etc/init.d/vmware start
Starting VMware services:
   Virtual machine monitor                                             done
   Virtual machine communication interface                            failed
   VM communication interface socket family                            done
   Blocking file system                                                done
   Virtual ethernet                                                    done
   VMware Authentication Daemon                                        done

initrd обновляли? Сгенерируйте ещё раз, на всякий случай, и обновите конфиг grub'a

автоматически обновлялся initrd, а как вручную - не помню(( плз...

Либо: update-initramfs -u Либо dpkg-reconfigure пакет_с_ядром. Он у вас теперь вообще модуль не видит?

vmware workstation не использовал, не могу вам насчет него ничего конкретного сказать. Но давайте попробуем найти этот модуль и понять почему он не загружается, заодно посмотрим инициализационный скрипт. Вывод под кат:
