У меня есть возможность выбрать для установки Debian testing либо Asus EN6600 Silencer/TD/256M/A, либо Radeon HD 3200 (встроенная в M3A78-EMH HDMI).
Есть ли у какой-нибудь из этих карт явное преимущество над другой?
Если есть, то есть ли для этой карты (и этой системы) драйвер имеющий явное преимущество над другими драйверами?
Если явного преимущества нет, назовите, пожалуйста, плюсы и минусы карт/драйверов.

Насколько я знаю, с АТИшными картами (точнее, с их дровами под Линукс) всегда куча проблем. Лично я бы выбрал н-Видивскую, однозначно! :)

Однозначно лучший вариант - GeForce 6600 ASUS EN6600 Silencer/TD/256M , проблем точно не будет с драйверами NVIDIA ...

Ну это у кого как, у меня проблем давно уже не было с дровами для AMD карт.

AMD хоть спецификации выкладывает, а вот NVidia...

Поддержка данной видео карты с 2008 года.

PS: вобщем выбор останется за вами, смотрите на то под какие задачи вы собираете систему.  Если для игр, то возможно стоит посмотреть на "выделенную" видео карту.  Хотя...

Во всяком случае [ GeForce 6600 ASUS EN6600 Silencer/TD/256M] , без проблем поддерживается свободным видео-драйвером  Nouveau ...

По крайней мере первое время буду работать в KDE. Установка 3D игр не планируется, но не исключается. Могу сказать, что HD 3200 может тормозить даже при нагрузке 1080 фильмами (в том числе, под виндой). У GF 6600 производительность выше. Подавляющее  :) большинство высказалось также в пользу NVidia.
Осталось только выбрать наиболее производительный и наименее проблемный драйвер...

Относительно 6600 на страничке Nouveau указано "Only vertex programs and fragment programs, fixed pipe engine removed". Что это значит?

Странно у меня нормально работала HD 2400 Pro или HD 2600 Pro, и видео и 3D игры нормально работали. 

PS: На полных настройках под wine запускал TES IV: Oblivion (Исправил:)).
PS:: Не думаю что интегрированная настолько проигрывает HD 2400/2600 pro.

Спасибо. Несколько дней играл в Oblivion (который TES IV) без эмуляции. Если правильно помню настройки были не максимальные и игра притормаживала.
Тест Взлет уток / Ducks Take Off тормозит при 720p.

Осталось только выбрать наиболее производительный и наименее проблемный драйвер...
Тот который в репозитории отлично работает с 6600. Проверено лично мною.

Stick with NVIDIA, it has drivers for Linux and can be downloaded from Invidia site, and is easy to install on dear dear Debian!

Всем спасибо. Действительно, автоматически устанавливаемый с системой драйвер работает хорошо. Теперь, хотелось бы узнать как он (драйвер) называется  :)

Действительно, автоматически устанавливаемый с системой драйвер работает хорошо. Теперь, хотелось бы узнать как он (драйвер) называется  :)

У меня Wine-Oblivion 1.2.0416 . Debian 8 x64 с обновлениями. Core i3, 4 Gb ОЗУ. Nvidia 8600 gt с драйвером nouveau. Тормоза в игре. Всё на минимуме. Почему?
